Storybook Gardens... [Jun. 9th, 2006|03:58 pm]
Nostalgia Travel
Here's a place I haven't been to since I was 8 years old...

My parents and I went there a couple times on our way to Sarnia and it looks like it hasn't really changed all that much. The carousel may have been repainted but the centrepole housing behind it still looks the same. You can't see the rounding boards, but according to an article in the Carousel News and Trader, they were changed not long ago, the classic 50's art deco boards replaced by a more recent style with moons and stars...

Yeah, I think they made some minor changes when they remodelled it a couple of years ago (the Frog Pond is new), but it looks very similar from the times I went as a kid :)

Humpty Dumpty looks different than he did when I was a kid. For one, he doesn't wear that top hat anymore. We have a picture in our family album of me sitting on the wall with him. THere used to be three aluminaum carousel horses on poles near him. Are they still there?

I haven't been to Storybook Gardens since 1973, but some segments of Doo-Doo the clown's T.V show were filmed there, especially the scense with the animals.
